Nativity Play for School leaders

Nativity Play for School leaders

We are delighted to welcome school groups to school performances of The Nativity at Wintershall in the last few weeks of the Christmas term.  Suitable for Upper KS1 upwards, schools use these performances as a resource for cross-curricular learning for RE, as well as History and Theatre studies. The performances provide a rich stimulus for exploring Christian spirituality and deepening understanding of the Christian faith. The Nativity is both dramatic and intimate, beginning in the open air with the shepherds in the fields, huddled around their fires. The audience then take their seats in the atmospheric Holly Barn Theatre, where the story unfolds of how Jesus changed the world.

An unforgettable group trip for schools, community groups and families, who are looking to do something spectacular before the end of term. The school performances can be accompanied by a pre or post performance workshop, where school groups get a chance to look behind the scenes of the play, exploring the meaning of Christmas in greater depth - it's a truly unique, special way to celebrate Advent.

Other Christmas resources include:

Pre or Post performance workshops - Special behind the scenes sessions that accompany our Nativity play and are available before or after the performance. Eat your lunch in the stable together and then meet the actors and animals involved in telling this Christmas story.

The Travelling Crib -The Wintershall Education Team bring our live travelling crib, including donkey, sheep, a wise man and Mary, to a school playground or field near you and run a day of workshops for the whole school onsite with you.  Our team travel up to an hour from Wintershall (GU5 0LR), however all bookings depend on suitable locations being available and require a site visit before any confirmation will be made. We are keen to reach as many children as possible during this short run, and so schools who team up together to share venues for our workshops are preferred when possible. Please do consider working with other local schools for this special event. More information here

Even though I had to walk up steep bumpy hills, I realised it was worth it when we got to the stable
